This was a good honest piece. I am also neurodivergent and am learning care for myself. It is turning onto somewhat of an overhaul but it works so much better than what I am doing. Care is so important. I am finding out how much the rules don't apply.

YES—the rules don’t apply. Good for you! And thanks, I relate to having it feel like an overhaul but am so glad to have done it. Always a work in progress, but finding what works and adjusting—regardless of what’s “supposed” to work—has been tremendously helpful.

You and me both! When things start to slip or get too heavy, or if I'm feeling overwhelmed, I look for the maintenance I stopped doing... because it's there somewhere. Being ready to respond has its place, too. But when I start to see good results, my foolish logic will come up with something that justifies not needing maintenance anymore, completely dismissing its contribution to those good results. So now, that's what I try to pay attention to—the maintenance I stopped doing and the conditions it helps me set.
